Dark circles under the eyes
A very common cause of dark circles is excess of skin pigment (melanin). In some families there are many affected persons, therefore, it seems that genetic factors are involved. The prevalence is higher in dark-haired and dark-eyed individuals. In these cases, laser beams and intense pulsed light have been used with good results.
Many patients, otherwise, have dark circles due to the formation of shadow in the inferior eyelid due to the presence of bags or due to a deeper groove. In these cases, the correction may be done with dermal filling, using hyaluronic acid, with outstanding results.
